The M276 does not lose power because it runs out of turbo. It loses power because it runs out of cooling. If your car pulls hard on the first run and noticeably softer on the second, you are hitting charge-air temperature limits — and no tune or downpipe fixes that.

This is a direct-replacement upgraded charge air cooler for the Mercedes-Benz M276 DE 30 AL 3.0L V6 biturbo.

How the M276 actually cools charge air

The M276 biturbo uses an indirect charge-air cooling circuit. There is no front-mounted air-to-air intercooler on this engine. Instead, a water-cooled (air-to-liquid) intercooler sits in the V of the engine, fed by a dedicated low-temperature coolant loop. Compressed air from both turbos passes through it on the way to the intake.

That packaging is efficient and compact, but the factory unit is small. Once the car is tuned or driven hard, the coolant loop saturates, intake air temperatures climb, and the ECU pulls timing to protect the engine. The result is the fade owners describe as “the second pull never feels like the first.”

What this upgrade addresses

  • Power fade on back-to-back pulls
  • Timing pulled by rising intake air temps
  • Reduced performance in hot climates and stop-and-go traffic
  • Inconsistent results between dyno runs or highway pulls

Be clear about what this is

This is a consistency modification, not a peak-horsepower modification. On a single cold pull, a stock intercooler and an upgraded one can read similarly. The difference shows on the second, third and fourth pull — and in summer. If you are chasing a bigger dyno number on one run, spend the money on downpipes and calibration first. If you already have those and the car falls off when it gets hot, this is the correct next part.

Model Chassis Engine
C43 AMG W205 / S205 / C205 M276 DE 30 AL
C450 AMG Sport W205 / S205 M276 DE 30 AL
C400 W205 / S205 M276 DE 30 AL
E43 AMG W213 / S213 M276 DE 30 AL
E450 W213 / C238 / A238 M276 DE 30 AL
E400 W213 / C238 / A238 M276 DE 30 AL

Model years approximately 2015–2023 depending on model and market. The GLC43 (X253 / C253), GLE43 (W166 / C292) and SLC43 (R172) use the same M276 DE 30 AL engine — message us with your VIN to confirm before ordering, as underhood packaging differs between chassis.

Not for the E63 (M177 / M178 V8). The W213 E43 and W213 E63 do not share cooling hardware. Nothing on this page interchanges with a 63.

Installation notes

  • Replaces the factory water-cooled charge air cooler in the engine V
  • Coolant drain and refill required — the low-temperature circuit must be properly bled after install
  • Professional installation recommended
  • No tune required for the intercooler itself, though this part is most worthwhile on a car that is already tuned

Where it fits in the build

Recommended order on the M276: high-flow drop-in filters, then downpipes with proper ECU calibration, then cooling. Adding an intercooler before the restriction and calibration work is done rarely changes how the car feels.

Fitment should be confirmed against your VIN and engine code before purchase. Send us your VIN if you are unsure which charge air cooler your car was built with.
