A Washable Filter Instead of a Disposable One
The factory paper element is a service item — you buy it, run it, throw it away, and buy another. The K&N is cotton gauze, so it washes and goes back in. Over the life of the car that is the difference between a shelf of paper filters and one filter you clean.
It also flows better than paper as it loads with dirt, which matters most in the second half of a service interval when a paper element is already restricting.

Install & Maintenance
Undo the Torx screws on the airbox lid, lift the lid, swap the filter, and put it all back together. No cutting, no wiring, no tuning.
Wash with a cotton-gauze filter cleaner, rinsing from the clean side outward. Air dry at room temperature — no compressed air or heat — then re-oil lightly. Over-oiling is what contaminates a MAF sensor.

No. This is the diesel element for the OM648 inline-six. The petrol E320 uses a different airbox and a different filter, so check which engine you have before ordering.

No. The 2007-on BlueTEC uses the OM642 V6 and a different filter. This element is for the OM648 inline-six only.
Do I need a tune to run this?

Will the filter oil damage my MAF sensor?
