Mercedes changed filler cap design partway through several platforms, so year and model alone don’t always settle it. The surest check is the number moulded into your old cap — if it reads 2214700605 (or A2214700605 / 221 470 06 05), this is your part. If you can’t read it or the cap is missing, send us your VIN and we’ll confirm before you order.

SL 400 owners: the R231 SL 400 (2015–2016) uses cap 2224700205, not this one. W213 E-Class owners (2017+) also need 2224700205.

Installation

Remove the old cap, inspect the filler neck for debris or damage, fit the new cap and tighten until it clicks. Many EVAP-related check engine lights clear after several drive cycles.
