High-flow catless downpipes for the Mercedes-AMG E63, E63 S (W212 / S212) and CLS63 S (C218) with 4MATIC and the M157 5.5L V8 BiTurbo. These replace the primary catalytic converters, the single largest restriction on a stock M157. Back-purged TIG-welded 304 stainless steel, 3.2″ tapering to 3.0″ OD-to-OD, direct bolt-on to the OEM mounting points, roughly 10–15 lbs lighter than the factory assemblies. How do I know if my car is 4MATIC?
Look for the 4MATIC badge on the boot lid or front fenders, and check whether there are driveshafts running to the front wheels. On US-market cars, facelift E63 and E63 S models are 4MATIC.
Why 3.2″ tapering to 3.0″ and not one straight diameter?
A downpipe sized past what the engine actually flows drops exhaust gas velocity, and velocity is what carries mid-range torque and turbo response. On the 4MATIC M157 that means 3.2″ at the turbo tapering to 3.0″, measured OD-to-OD — the taper accelerates gas through the section instead of letting it stall.
Do the E63 and E63 S use the same downpipes?
Yes. The S is a higher output calibration of the same M157 in the same chassis — the exhaust routing is identical, so this set fits both.
Will these work on the stock tune?
They fit and run fine on a stock car, and the sharper throttle response is immediate. The power arrives with the calibration. A tune is highly recommended for maximum performance and to clear fault codes.
Will I get a check engine light?
Likely, on an untuned car. Removing the cats means the downstream O₂ sensors read differently than the ECU expects. A calibration resolves it properly — we do not recommend defeat devices.
Are these street legal?
No. These delete the primary catalytic converter. They hold no CARB Executive Order, are not 50-state legal, and are not legal to install on a vehicle registered or operated on public roads in the United States.
