These are the 4MATIC downpipes. All-wheel-drive M157 cars route a front driveshaft through this area, so the pipes are shaped differently from the rear-wheel-drive version — the two are not interchangeable.

The calibration is what turns them loose: it lets the ECU use the extra flow, and it clears the check-engine light the catless design will otherwise set. 4MATIC arrived on the E63 with the facelift — US cars from the 2014 model year, some markets a year earlier. Both the E63 and the E63 S use these same downpipes. The CLS63 S ran a year longer than the E63 S, through 2018. If your car is all-wheel drive with the M157, these are the correct downpipes regardless of the exact model year on the title. Not certain? Do the E63 and E63 S use the same downpipes?
Yes. The S is a higher output calibration of the same M157 in the same chassis — the exhaust routing is identical, so this set fits both.

Will these fit a rear-wheel-drive E63 or CLS63?
No. The 4MATIC front driveshaft changes the routing, so the two versions are shaped differently. Rear-wheel-drive cars need the RWD downpipes.
Will these work on the stock tune?
The car will run without calibration, but ECU tuning is recommended for best drivability, performance, and to manage emissions-related fault codes.
Will I get a check engine light?
Likely, on an untuned car. Removing the cats means the downstream O₂ sensors read differently than the ECU expects. A calibration resolves it properly — we do not recommend defeat devices.
Are these street legal?
No. These delete the primary catalytic converter. They hold no CARB Executive Order, are not 50-state legal, and are not legal to install on a vehicle registered or operated on public roads in the United States.
