What These Turbos Need To Work
Bigger turbos move more air, and every system downstream has to keep up. These are the parts our own M157 turbo builds run — skip them and the turbos will not deliver what they are capable of.
Required for the turbos to make power safely:
- Custom M157 ECU calibration — non-negotiable. The factory file has no idea these turbos exist.
- One step colder spark plugs — standard practice once boost goes up; guards against knock under load.
- Upgraded fueling sized to your power target. Send us your goal and we will spec it.
Exhaust — pick the set that matches your car:
- Catless downpipes — E63 W212 & CLS63 C218 RWD (2012–2013)
- Catless downpipes — E63 S & CLS63 S 4MATIC (2014–2018)
- Catless downpipes — S63 AMG W222
Airflow and heat management:
- Charge pipes / turbo pressure relief kit — E63 & CLS63. The factory plastic pipes are a known weak point at raised boost.
- M157 intake spacer kit — opens up the restriction in the factory airbox.
- Turbo blankets — keeps turbo heat out of the intake tract and off surrounding components.
- CSF performance radiator — E63 & CLS63. Keeps power repeatable instead of falling off with heat soak.
Note: Power results vary by fuel type, supporting modifications, and calibration quality. These turbos are designed to support higher output than stock when paired with the correct setup.
